Utopia Playbook

I believe 80% of organizations are sub-optimal and mismanaged.

Utopian Company: An organization where leaders design a set of systems/environments that incentivize individuals to pursue self-mastery.

Call it flow-states, unlocking their potential etc… the technicality doesn’t matter. You know it when you see it.

Purpose of Document

My hope is to use this growing playbook to aid leaders build their own unique utopian organizations. If you are a leader yourself, I hope some the examples in the book inspire you to try something out for your organization.

Why This Matters

The individual is the foundation of every organization. The organization will succeed over the long-term when the foundation is successful.

Leaders must prioritize constructing utopian organization because that will make the greatest difference to human prosperity.

With 50%+ of our waking moments at “work”, the organizational environment will nurture a set of behaviours that flow into how its employees interact with their family and society as a whole.

Utopian companies will have fulfilled individuals who will raise a curious children, innovate on important problems and compound human prosperity.

The future of investing is in people. This makes future leaders the allocators of people, not financial capital. Neglecting this will also result in losing money for the company long-term.

There isn’t a one size fits all.

This document will continue to grow as I explore and learn from various leaders and organizations.

Various case studies have been organized into themes I identified in my research on what matters to cultivate flow-state in high performers.

    • Hire slow, fire fast. You don’t throw money at it like scaling marketing efforts.

  • Compensation

    • A hygiene factor and filtering tool at best. It’s not how you acquire, motivate and retain the best.
